Description
This Homemade BBQ Chicken Pizza Recipe delivers bold flavor with tangy BBQ sauce, juicy chicken, and a crispy crust. It’s perfect for a quick dinner or party dish.
Ingredients
1/2 recipe homemade pizza dough (or 1 lb. store-bought pizza dough)
1 Tablespoon (15ml) olive oil, divided
1 Tablespoon (8g) cornmeal
1/3 cup + 2 Tablespoons (130g) Jimmy’s Sauce or Heinz classic BBQ sauce
1 cup chopped or shredded cooked chicken (about one 8-ounce breast)
2/3 cup (70g) shredded mozzarella cheese
2/3 cup (70g) shredded smoked gouda cheese
1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
1 Tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro (or basil)
Instructions
1. Prepare the pizza dough and let it rise. If using store-bought dough, ensure it’s thawed completely.
2. Preheat the oven to 475°F (246°C) for at least 15–20 minutes. If using a pizza stone, preheat it as well.
3. Lightly grease a large baking sheet or pizza pan with 1/2 tablespoon olive oil and sprinkle with cornmeal.
4. Punch down the dough and shape it into a 12-inch circle. Pinch the edges to form a rim.
5. Use your fingers to create small dents in the dough to prevent bubbling. Brush with the remaining olive oil.
6. Spread 1/3 cup BBQ sauce evenly over the dough. Toss the cooked chicken with the remaining sauce and scatter on top.
7. Sprinkle mozzarella and smoked gouda evenly over the pizza. Add the red onion slices.
8. Bake for 14–15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and browned.
9. Remove from the oven and top with fresh cilantro or basil. Slice and serve hot.
Notes
You can substitute smoked gouda with more mozzarella if needed.
Omit onions or cilantro if desired for a simpler version.
Leftover pizza can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days or frozen for 3 months.
Reheat in a 350°F oven or a skillet for best texture.
