Honey Garlic Salmon with Caramelized Onions is a simple and flavorful dish that blends sweet notes, warm spices, and tender salmon for an easy weeknight meal.
Ingredients
1 and 1 half teaspoons ground black pepper
1 half teaspoon paprika
1 quarter teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon mustard made with apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 half teaspoon onion powder
1 quarter teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 salmon fillets, 6 ounces each
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 and 1 half tablespoons minced onion
Instructions
1. Combine ground black pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, minced garlic, mustard made with apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, onion powder, and salt in a small bowl.
2. Stir in 1 tablespoon olive oil to form a paste.
3. Coat salmon fillets with the paste.
4. Let salmon rest for 30 minutes at room temperature.
5. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
6. Add minced onion and cook until golden and tender.
7. Heat a separate nonstick skillet over medium high heat.
8. Cook salmon for about 4 minutes per side until golden and opaque.
9. Spoon caramelized onions and remaining oil over the salmon before serving.
Notes
For the best sear, make sure your skillet is fully heated before adding the salmon.
Caramelize onions slowly to bring out their natural sweetness.
Add a splash of broth while reheating leftovers to keep the salmon moist.
